HENRY HUDSON
SECOND VOYAGE
The Second Voyage, also funded by The Muscovy Company, sent the Hopewell in search of the passage to the East by the northeast. After months Hudson gave up and ordered the crew to sail west. But Hudson was not sailing back home as later the crew found out, instead Hudson was looking for the "Furious Overfall" that might lead them to Orient (East Indies: China and India). When the crew realized that they had been mislead they threatened to mutiny (take over the ship from the captain). Hudson returned the ship home. Hudson arrived in England at the end of August 1608. He considered this trip a failure but he brought maps of the ice barrier and Novaya Zemplya. These maps were very useful to geographers.
