INTRODUCTION

Monday, April 12th, 1610

Hello, my name is  Henry Hudson and I am an explorer. I'm looking for an ice free route to the Orient. My grandfather is one of the founders of The Muscovy Company. I grew up in London, England and went to Harvard University when I was a kid I was a cabin boy and then eventually got to be a captain. I grew up in and wealthy family and got married to a woman named Katherine and had one boy mamed John Hudson. He came sailing with me on my last and final voyage and got sent away in a small shallopand.  We were never seen again but my wife said to send out a search party but I was never found.

I did four voyages from 1607 to 1611.  All of them were financed by Englishmen except my third voyage, which was funded by Holland.  My main goal was to find a Northwest passage to get to the Orient (China and India).

Although I did not accomplish my original goal I made very important discoveries. The most important ones are the Hudson River on my third voyage.

Hudson bay and Hudson Strait on my fourth voyage. On all my trips I kept a log of everything that was happening and recorded important information from the different places we saw.

When I arrived in America my first encounter with the First Nations people was not good at all because me and my crew stole a small boat to sail across a river to get some food. The tribe noticed and shot a crew member in the neck with an arrow and killed him . But not all our encounters with the First Nations people were as terrible as the first one.
